The artists, entrepreneurs and digital gunslingers of our creative culture.
Intro by: Jennifer Levine
I honestly believe that “kinga” is the polish word for “superwoman.” I first met this lovely lady at an event I was putting together for Cinco de Mayo, “Liberate Your Mind, Liberate Your Soul.” I posted a call for artists on a face and body painting Facebook group and within minutes I received an email from Kinga. She was energy, excitement and enthusiasm. After emailing her a few details, I called. To my amazement, she had already found her model, an assistant and a concept. Classically trained in aesthetics and a professional make up artist, it was only natural that this Polish beauty evolved to be one of the most talented body painters I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Original, inventive and color- driven, her work is reflective of her personality. Since meeting her, I have watch Kinga’s portfolio explode! There isn’t a week where she’s not coordinating a slew of events, from face painting children at family festivals to massive body painting expos downtown. For good reason, she is a woman in demand and the only one I know who can pull it off with such effortless grace. I cannot underscore my delight in this gal or her warm spirit enough! Without further ado:
I am Kinga Reilly-Moore. I was born Warsaw, Poland.
Role: Devoted Wife, Mother, Skin Therapist, Make-Up Artist, Body Painter, as my husband calls me, the “Director of Creative Energy”. I would change my inability to make decisions at the dumbest moments. For example: Buying paint brushes. I literally spent an hour in the paintbrush section at Hobby Lobby staring at two packages and I could not decided. My husband just stared at me in disbelief.

Daniel N. Ericson is an artist from Denver Colorado. He paints portraits on streetsigns. He is one of the funniest men I know. His friends call him Dunn, Dunnington, Dunston, McDunna and the Signtologist - we met in middle school. We were friends in high-school, we were roommates in college, we’ve collaborated on numerous projects since. We both share a passion for oriental aesthetics and second-wave hip-hop music. Mostly, we drink and smoke together and have a grand ol’ time. I’ve learned quite a bit from Dunn, particularly the power of free. The amount of work he’s created and given away is astronomical. For me he’s videotaped performances, designed posters and laid-out the cover-art for my records. Dunn was helping me frame some tribute pieces I was working a couple years back. He asked for a nominal fee, which lead to an argument. We exchanged f-bombs and I left at a slamming door. After I cooled-off a bit, I realized I was being an ungrateful jerk. I apologized and we were good. It’s incredibly valuable to have friends that can check you every now and again. The ‘One of Us’ series is a reflection of Dunn’s spirit of reciprocity. He’s a sweet and generous guy; a world famous artist. I’m hoping he dies tragically so my Signtologist art collection will finance my kid’s education. In addition, Dunn was nice enough to spend a little time with this Q & A:
I am Daniel N. Ericson. I grew up in South Denver. The most valuable thing I own are my ideas. The question I get asked the most is: ‘Did you steal all those signs?’
I like my creativity.
I wish I had more hair.
I’d love to live in the Caribbean or NYC.
My greatest anxiety is crowds of people.
Extravagance: Toys
Vice: Whiskey or White Russians

Favorite podcast: Lately I’ve been listening to Hay House Radio.
(Listen to Dunn on 8th Grade Ball here.)
Painting keeps me balanced, I’ve always used my creative outlet to relax.
My parents are great & super supportive of my art.
The internet becomes self aware in the year 2012, around the same time all the other shit hits the fan would be a good time I would assume?
I would like to see Eric Matelski a.k.a The Art Pimp answer these questions

The artists, entrepreneurs and digital gunslingers of our creative culture. Rob Streisfeld is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, a health food chef, an author, a consumer advocate and concierge for better living. He is known affectionately as Doc Rob. I met him 6 years ago at Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore. After nearly 10 years in natural products I’ve come to recognize the industry is split into two camps: 1) Chumps. Wing-nuts, Nut-bags, crazy people. e.g. Kevin Trudeau 2) Champs. Health freaks, do-gooders, relaxed people. e.g. Sara Snow I’d like to tell you I am in camp #2, but I’ve still got a bit of crazy to get out. Doc Rob is a champ. Old guard, hippie, health food evangelist he is not. His message is sympathetic and easy to understand. Happy living is about healthy choices. Doc Rob has taken me to little neighborhood pubs in Boston. Sent me to some good clubs in Chicago. We talked about watches in Sacramento. What really separates Doc Rob from his peers; he’s not going to lecture you. Many a dinner I’ve been wrist deep in a porterhouse when a vegan starts in on a PETA diatribe. It’s a real buzz-kill. I am a nut-bag health freak, but I like bourbon and tobacco too. Perhaps Doc Rob disapproves, but he’s never let on. He is a friend first - then a physician. He’s my ticket to Camp Champ. Doc Rob is from Monticello, New York, is willing to drop coin on good food, he’s gunning for Dr. Oz’s job and was good enough to sit down with this Q & A: I am Dr Rob Streisfeld aka Doc Rob. My greatest anxiety is getting what I want, and not being satisfied. I grew up just like most people, not much into health foods. I was sick as a kid. and most of my journey and education was focused on finding answers and ways to feel better each day. I have an ability to be pretty flexible and tolerant. I wasn’t always this way, but studying philosophy and stress management has been a great reward in how I approach things day to day. I’d like to be more organized. I have so many creative ideas and passions. I’m realizing more and more its about the follow through and finish. I am a gypsy. I travel all the time, not sure there is one place i want to settle, at least not permanently. I think I’d like to live in Brazil for a bit, maybe Thailand too. Diet: Lots of veggies. I try to eat as healthy as I can, but I’m not one to over obsess about it. I like all food for the most part. It’s about the quality of the ingredients that is important to me. Dream job: Talk show host. Something where I can travel, help people, and make good money in the process. The most valuable thing I own is my sense of humor. The question I get asked the most is: How do I get healthy like you, Doc? One thing the Internet really needs is: I can’t tell you, in the process of working on it :) Parents: Awesome and always supportive. If I could do anything I’d travel the world for a while, without concern of cost. Favorite Book: aahh.. I can’t limit it down to one, but ISHMAEL by Daniel Quinn is pretty good. I think people are overwhelmed, confused, but generally good. I get inspired by people incorporating small changes into their lives for healthier living. I wish I could communicate via sign language and play the harmonica. My greatest achievement is publishing my first book; A Healthier Ever After. I’m just so sick of companies selling crappy health products to ignorant and desperate consumers. The thing I’m most excited about right now is my new talk show: “For the HIP”. The best way to relax is to breath deeply. Connect with me here: __

Michelle Brock is a spiritual development life coach and a hypnotist in New York City. She specializes in past life regression, inductive development, and manifesting positive life changes. I met Michelle at a wedding in Baltimore. She is my wife’s cousin. I’d heard she was a hypnotist. I half expected her to show up in a macrame’d skirt and a gypsy scarf. I should have known: all the women in my wife’s family are remarkably physically attractive. Michelle is not your stereotypical spiritualist. She’s funny, smart and put together. (She’s a New Yorker.) I am not a spiritual person. When introspective, I favor ancient oriental insight. I stop short of reincarnation. There is no sense to speculate on life before or after this one; it is unknowable. I started listening to her podcast as a skeptic. Michelle has a unique narrative. She frames her interpretations in science and history. She provides cultural context to her readings. Michelle weaves time around Jungian archetypes providing us a haunting closeness to our ascendants. It’s fascinating. Her readings are surprisingly accessible; there was nothing I needed to believe. Michelle is a healer, even I get that. I have no faith, but I’m not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I’m interested. Michelle likes red wine, sings in the shower, and gets asked daily: “What’s past life regression?” She was polite enough to share a bit more of herself with us via. this Q & A.
I am Michelle Brock, I am constantly seduced by the excitement of reading and exploring something new, I generally read a few books a week.
I am much more than my body. I was born many different times in many different places. My career is a living thing that is constantly growing and evolving, just like me. I grew up in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, where I had a big, open and mostly carefree childhood.
Nickname: Mishy, Meesh, and my Dad also used to call me “Big Foot”.
Dream job: the one that I am doing right now.
Fictional hero: Obi Wan Kanobi.
Real life hero: Helen Keller, I have been fascinated by her since I was a child and have always wondered how she always stayed so positive despite her incredible challenges.
I like that I know who I am.
I would change my addiction to perfection- I am so afraid to be wrong and/or to fail.
I’d like to live where it is quiet and you can see the stars at night.
Diet: Watching what I eat. Meaning, I watch it go from my fork right into my mouth.
Work is: A state of mind.
My greatest anxiety is forgetting to put on mascara in the morning. Just kidding.
The most valuable thing I own is my physical body, I try to guard it and care for it as best I can.
I connect online most on Facebook, I am obsessed!
My favorite person to follow on Twitter is the Dalai Lama- how cool is that? I love the internet!
One thing the Internet really needs is portals by which we can access the time/space continuum.
I fear that we have already destroyed our beautiful planet.
The best place to vacation is anywhere that I haven’t already been.
If I could do anything I’d heal the entire world.
Secret: I am a total nerd. Oh wait, most people do know that about me…
The best thing on TV:
Right now I am all about Pat Spain the Beasthunter on NatGeo, I love how he approaches unexplained phenomena both intelligently and scientifically, but with an open and inquiring mind. And, I love animals and all things from natural world on this amazing planet earth.
Pet: 10 1/2 year old English Bulldog named Beasley. He snores really, really loudly.
I think people are often so unaware that they are truly incredible beings with absolutely limitless potential.
I get inspired by a beautiful sunset, an ancient tree, my fellow humans, and falling in love.
I spend most of my time sleeping. I need a lot of sleep in order to function properly.
My children are my greatest achievement, but I understand that they don’t really belong to me. But, they make me so proud!
I’d switch places with Oprah for a day. She has a fascinating job!
My parents are incredible people and really fun grandparents.
The blogs I subscribe to are all related to past lives, spirituality, shamanism, psychics, etc.
Favorite song:
I can’t get E.T. by Katy Perry out of my head, does that mean it is my current favorite?
Favorite podcast:
My own! just kidding.
Best way to relax: Hands down in the bathtub.
I honestly don’t really envy anyone, everyone has their own crap and life challenges. I guess I just see it for what it is.
My favorite spot in the world is at home in NYC.

Kyle Berner is an entrepreneur from New Orleans. That’s his blood. He is the founder of Feelgoodz Flip-Flops. In recent times the Big Easy, has been everything but. An American optimism. A new generation of businessmen. A focus on profit, people and the planet. Kyle is leading the charge. His product is superior; his enthusiasm is contagious. Kyle sources the natural rubber for his flip-flops from Thai families. He works to improve their wages and conditions with his hands. He is creating a fair-trade rubber program because there is none. Kyle crafted a recycling program that sends old flip-flops to Kenya to be re-purposed by local tradesman. That’s right, read it again. I was told that New Orleans has a remarkable culture. The best of it I’ve witnessed in this guy. Kyle travels the world, eats Snickers and has no pets, but he did have a couple minutes to spend with this Q & A:

Jennifer Levine blows glass. She is a professional artist. I met Jennifer one Sunday morning sitting on a bar-stool. She was eating tater-tots and writing studiously. I was drinking whiskey and bloody marys with Matt. Jennifer shared with me her poetry. Her writing is lyrical and gentle - it’s nice. I hate poetry. I offered unsolicited advice about her work like a jerk. She let it slide. Jennifer and I ended up on fucking. Writing about fucking specifically. Good dialog. Her manner is warm and feminine. A nice contrast to my loud, talking-with-the-hands monologue. Matt and I left to play guitar. On Monday I checked-out her glass pieces on-line. They are beautiful. Maybe Jennifer’s poetry is a testing ground; an emotional warm-up before tackling the molten glass? I can’t help but look for a connection. Jennifer was born in Texas, she named her cactus Parrot, she is inspired by public service and I am lucky enough that she spent some time with our Q & A:
I am Jennifer Levine I am an artist and a poet. My greatest fear is missing an opportunity. I’m just so sick of people using the word “bored.” It doesn’t describe a point in time for a person. It describes their own character.
Career: Playing with fire.
Time: Working, writing and walking.
Desired Skill: The one I’m working hardest to master.
I never intend to grow up.
I admire people I don’t know and am proud of the people I do know.
Nickname: Danger Mouse
Fearless superhero who works with power tools and blowtorches yet somehow remains the klutziest individual on God’s green earth. (They keep special band-aids for me at our local glass supply house.)
I like my loud laugh… very useful since I always have something to laugh about, especially myself.
Greatest extravagance: Friends and family, I love doing things for them when I can.
Vice: Diet Pepsi, closely followed by Little Debbie snacks.
Greatest anxiety: the DMV
Favorite time: Now. I’m live’n the dream, Baby!
Diet: Pasta, carbonated beverages and sunshine.
Fictional hero: Wonder Woman. I had the underoos.
My real-life heroes are my folks and family. Their outlook on life, courage and strength in facing obstacles leave me in awe. I’m amazed by their perseverance, quite the role models.
Work is Edisonian:
The most valuable thing I own is my loosely tethered sanity.
I used to get lost looking things up in encyclopedias, now I’m just hopeless on the Internet!
My favorite person to follow on Twitter is not any one individual, but mostly current events overseas.
“Is it hard? How long did it take to make?”
One thing the Internet really needs is auto-correct on all the “IM speak,” whose term I must confess I just learned from kids sitting next to me in the coffee shop.
I’m not getting old, just most the music I grew up to is now “classic.”
Try: Anything once, keeps things kinetic.
Vacation: Long plane ride.
Secret hobby: Knitting and people watching on Colfax.
TV: Hulu, I really enjoy House, Torchwood and Dr. Who.
Build-a-Author: Virginia Woolf, a pinch of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a smidgen of Ayn Rand, a touch of Marion Zimmer Bradley and seasoned with W.B. Yeats
I do have a mute button and an off switch - just not in public.
I think people are innately good and well meaning, experience gives them either strength or baggage.
Excited for: My business and all the sweet goodness that has been happening lately. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; you put enough positive goodness into the universe, it will come back to bless you as long as you’re working hard to earn it.
I found the love of my life in a poem.
Favorite song: “I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash.
Favorite podcast: NPR’s Fresh Air.
Subscribed Blogs: Art, history and humor related.
Switch places with: Merlin… before he got trapped in the tree.
The best way to relax is to be quiet and breathe in the space around you, be it rollerblading or laying on the couch.
My favorite spot in the world is next to someone I hold dear.

Jacob Sanders is the Creative Director of CueBro Audio and a professional musician/composer in New York City. Jake grew up near me in South Denver. He has an incredible family. They are all hilarious and talented. Jake is no exception. Before he moved to New York, I booked his band at this jazz club I worked at. Jake plays barri-sax (among other instruments) like a madman. He’s a great singer. I would have kidnapped him into my band but I’m a selfish prick when it comes to sharing a microphone. Lucky for him.
Jake’s got a cat named Dinah, he doesn’t watch TV, he’d rather be in Isla Mujeres but I’m lucky enough that he spent a little time with our Q & A:
I am Jacob Sanders; My greatest anxiety is people not enjoying my output or getting my jokes. It’s a touch shallow.Typical artist bullshit. Working on correcting this everyday.
Nickname: Skinny Tallz.

One thing the Internet really needs is the ability to help people discern fact from fiction, and perhaps a pressure release from people getting emotionally attached to what they post, create or comment on. A way for people to detach…odd, but seems like that would be helpful to me.
Parents: Amazing and supportive.
Favorite person on twitter: ?uestLove from the Roots.
Best way to relax: Classical music and some essential herbs.
Blog suscription: Everyday is Awesome.
Someday I will live somewhere in Europe. Isn’t that what every musician says? Sort of like a hippie commune with music, but no one being too pushy, and perhaps strippers. Perhaps. But these strippers would probably want money…no strippers.
Favorite books:
Secret hobby: Spiritual enlightenment.

I’m just so sick of macho assholes, thoughtless crime, people unable to take their surroundings in their equations, the blame game.
Dream job: What I do now but on steroids.
Connection of choice: Laptop.
The year the internet becomes self aware:2012.
I’m inspired by going to see a show of any kind. Dance, art, music and the love of my wife and cat and the sweetness of children.

Desired skill: Architectural design.
Greatest Achievement: Yet to come.
Most valuable thing I own: Besides my wife, cat, health and sanity, my saxophone.
My favorite spot in the world is behind my piano.

I know Rachel Romero pretty well. We’ve never met. We have mutual friends and we bullshit online. We have since Myspace - since ‘06 maybe. She’s witty and hilarious and produces excellent on-line content. Writing, pics, video, interviews and reviews - the whole gambit. Rachel contributes. In short: she brightens my day. I’m a big fan of her work and yet, I have no clue what her voice sounds like. That’s a lie, I think I heard her on a radio show once - can’t be sure. Either way, we’ve never shook hands. What an awesome world it is to have these incredibly low-maintenance but quite fulfilling friendships with strangers. Rachel grew up drinking malt liquor and skirting trouble, she doesn’t eat swine, she is a closet WOW gamer and she was good enough to take time from her schedule and share with us in this Q & A:
