One of us: Michelle Brock
The artists, entrepreneurs and digital gunslingers of our creative culture.

Michelle Brock is a spiritual development life coach and a hypnotist in New York City. She specializes in past life regression, inductive development, and manifesting positive life changes. I met Michelle at a wedding in Baltimore. She is my wife’s cousin. I’d heard she was a hypnotist. I half expected her to show up in a macrame’d skirt and a gypsy scarf. I should have known: all the women in my wife’s family are remarkably physically attractive. Michelle is not your stereotypical spiritualist. She’s funny, smart and put together. (She’s a New Yorker.) I am not a spiritual person. When introspective, I favor ancient oriental insight. I stop short of reincarnation. There is no sense to speculate on life before or after this one; it is unknowable. I started listening to her podcast as a skeptic. Michelle has a unique narrative. She frames her interpretations in science and history. She provides cultural context to her readings. Michelle weaves time around Jungian archetypes providing us a haunting closeness to our ascendants. It’s fascinating. Her readings are surprisingly accessible; there was nothing I needed to believe. Michelle is a healer, even I get that. I have no faith, but I’m not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I’m interested. Michelle likes red wine, sings in the shower, and gets asked daily: “What’s past life regression?” She was polite enough to share a bit more of herself with us via. this Q & A.
I am Michelle Brock, I am constantly seduced by the excitement of reading and exploring something new, I generally read a few books a week.
I am much more than my body. I was born many different times in many different places. My career is a living thing that is constantly growing and evolving, just like me. I grew up in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, where I had a big, open and mostly carefree childhood.
Nickname: Mishy, Meesh, and my Dad also used to call me “Big Foot”.
Dream job: the one that I am doing right now.
Fictional hero: Obi Wan Kanobi.
Real life hero: Helen Keller, I have been fascinated by her since I was a child and have always wondered how she always stayed so positive despite her incredible challenges.
I like that I know who I am.
I would change my addiction to perfection- I am so afraid to be wrong and/or to fail.
I’d like to live where it is quiet and you can see the stars at night.
Diet: Watching what I eat. Meaning, I watch it go from my fork right into my mouth.
Work is: A state of mind.
My greatest anxiety is forgetting to put on mascara in the morning. Just kidding.
The most valuable thing I own is my physical body, I try to guard it and care for it as best I can.
I connect online most on Facebook, I am obsessed!
My favorite person to follow on Twitter is the Dalai Lama- how cool is that? I love the internet!
One thing the Internet really needs is portals by which we can access the time/space continuum.
I fear that we have already destroyed our beautiful planet.
The best place to vacation is anywhere that I haven’t already been.
If I could do anything I’d heal the entire world.
Secret: I am a total nerd. Oh wait, most people do know that about me…
The best thing on TV:
Right now I am all about Pat Spain the Beasthunter on NatGeo, I love how he approaches unexplained phenomena both intelligently and scientifically, but with an open and inquiring mind. And, I love animals and all things from natural world on this amazing planet earth.
Pet: 10 1/2 year old English Bulldog named Beasley. He snores really, really loudly.
I think people are often so unaware that they are truly incredible beings with absolutely limitless potential.
I get inspired by a beautiful sunset, an ancient tree, my fellow humans, and falling in love.
I spend most of my time sleeping. I need a lot of sleep in order to function properly.
My children are my greatest achievement, but I understand that they don’t really belong to me. But, they make me so proud!
I’d switch places with Oprah for a day. She has a fascinating job!
My parents are incredible people and really fun grandparents.
The blogs I subscribe to are all related to past lives, spirituality, shamanism, psychics, etc.
Favorite song:
I can’t get E.T. by Katy Perry out of my head, does that mean it is my current favorite?
Favorite podcast:
My own! just kidding.
Best way to relax: Hands down in the bathtub.
I honestly don’t really envy anyone, everyone has their own crap and life challenges. I guess I just see it for what it is.
My favorite spot in the world is at home in NYC.
