One of Us: Jason Roberts

Beer: The Original American Social Network. Beer is responsible for the American Revolution. Sounds odd, but true. The ‘founding fathers’ were generally a lofty bunch of blowhards. It was the men in the pubs, over beers, who burned the fires of revolution. Paul Revere was the guy who bridged the democratic ideals with the brawn of the American citizen. Revere raised many a pint with the men who worked with their hands, AND the men who worked with their brains.
Revere was the glue.
Talklaunch has a Revere, Jason Roberts. Jason bridges the tech community to the amateurs. His writing relays the basic operations of the Internet and it’s impact on our culture. And he likes beer. Jason and I tore up Denver a few weeks back, hitting a bunch of local brewpubs. We raised our glasses, told lies and laughed our ass off. Sounds like a revolution brewing. Jason is building a full time position in Social Media, he’s a father, and he likes Robert DeNiro movies. We were lucky he spent a little time with this Q & A:
I am Jason Roberts, a father, a husband, social media advocate, and craft beer connoisseur. I grew up in Pensacola, Florida for the most part. My father was in the Navy when I was a baby so we moved to Jacksonville, Florida for two years then moved back to Pensacola. I lived in Biloxi, Mississippi, from 1984 – 1991, Wichita Falls, Texas, from 1991 – 1994, then I moved back home to Pensacola, Florida. I was first called Jay by my great aunt back in the 80′s and it stuck. At my 9-6 gig I was tagged J-Ro because there’s another Jason that works here.I feel like I’m a pretty good person overall. The most valuable thing I own is my word.My career is a small private software company that tracks data for over one hundred and fifty medical facilities across the country.
I get inspired by philanthropist who care enough to do what they can for the greater good of our society. I get a little too fired up and emotional about things sometimes but it’s only because I care so much.
